Meet the Doctors

Hassan Oueis, DDS, PhD "Dr. O"

Dr. Oueis is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He received his dental degree from University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry, and he undertook an additional two years of specialized postgraduate training in pediatric dentistry at Children’s Hospital of Michigan. He went on to perform clinical studies on growth and development in children at Tokyo University in Japan, where he earned his Ph.D in pediatric dentistry.

In addition Dr. Oueis completed a prestigious two-year advanced fellowship program in pediatric dentistry at the Ohio State University.

Dr. Oueis has been the director of the graduate program of pediatric dentistry at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, where he helped train and educate dozens of pediatric dentists for most of the past decade. Prior to that, Dr. Oueis taught for five years at University of Detroit Mercy. He is also active in research and has published numerous research articles in national and international dental journals.

Dr. Oueis founded Children’s Dental Care in 2012 as the leading pediatric dental practice serving Canton, Dearborn, Livonia, and Detroit. Designed with children’s comfort as a top priority, Children’s Dental Care offers a state-of-the-art facility where bright, cheerful surroundings create a welcoming and reassuring environment for young patients.

Dr. Oueis is the proud owner of Royal Oak Surgical Center, a cutting-edge facility specializing in comprehensive dental treatment under pediatric anesthesia. With a strong commitment to patient care and safety, the center is fully equipped to provide high-quality dental procedures in a comfortable and supportive environment for young patients.

Dr. Oueis enjoys spending time with his wife and three kids. In his spare time, he enjoys travelling, soccer, and reading.


Rehab Zaki, D.D.S.

Dr. Rehab Zaki is a board-certified pediatric dentist whose focus is to provide comprehensive treatment in a way that is compassionate and understanding to each individual family’s situation. Dr. Rehab received her dental degree from the University of Jordan. She then moved to the US with her husband to pursue her post-graduate education. Shortly after moving to the US, she completed her doctoral degree in dental public health from Boston University. She then completed a post-graduate program in the specialty of pediatric dentistry from Nova Southeastern University in Florida.

After graduation, she worked at St. Bernard’s Hospital in Chicago. She then moved to Michigan to work as a full-time assistant professor at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry where she taught for almost four years. She then wanted to pursue her passion in serving the pediatric special needs population in Detroit, which led her to join Children’s Dental Center, where she worked as the pediatric dentistry residency clinic director.

We are pleased that Dr. Rehab has decided to join our team as a full-time pediatric dentist. Dr. Rehab is certified in PALS and maintains professional affiliations with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the Michigan Dental Association.

Dr. Rehab lives in Novi with her husband, her two daughters Talia and Tayma. They enjoy spending time outdoors and enjoy traveling around Michigan.


Salam Alsadiq, DDS, MS

Dr.Salam is a board certified pediatric dentist. She believes in treating her little patients as if they were her own kids. She enjoys seeing her patients grow with a healthy smile.

Dr. Salam has completed her postgraduate studies in Pediatric dentistry at Boston University where she as well completed a Master degree in pediatric dentistry focusing in diagnosing kids with sleep apnea and its relation to the behavioral disorders and ADHD.

She worked as an assistant professor at Boston University Henry M. Goldman school of dental medicine in the pediatric dentistry department. She also worked at Dimock health center in Boston, where she treated childrens of all ages as well as special health care needs patients.

Before her studies in pediatric dentistry, Dr.Salam completed a master degree in Dental Sciences and a postgraduate degree in Orofacial pain at Tufts University. She focused on treating patients who completed the orthodontic treatment with development of facial pain due to changes in occlusion.

Dr.Salam earned her dental degree from Misr University for science and technology where she completed her internship there as well.

Dr. Salam won the Nusmile Graduate student research award in 2018. She was also a recipient of Dr. Richard Allard scholarship for excellence in Pediatric dental research.

Dr.Salam enjoys being outdoors, reading, and spending quality time with her kids!


Shinechimeg Dima, DDS, MSc, Ph.D

Dr. Shinechimeg Dima is a dedicated board certified pediatric dentist currently pursuing a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Pediatric Dentistry at Boston University. She holds a Ph.D. and a master's degree from Taipei Medical University and a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Health Sciences University of Mongolia.

Dr. Dima's clinical experience includes residency training at Boston Medical Center and Franciscan Children’s Hospital, where she provided comprehensive oral health care to pediatric patients, including those with special needs. She is proficient in behavior management techniques and experienced with nitrous oxide, conscious sedation, and general anesthesia.

Her research contributions are extensive, with multiple publications and presentations at international conferences. Dr. Dima has also served as a teaching assistant in pediatric dentistry courses and participated in various community service projects.

Fluent in Mongolian and English, and proficient in Russian and Mandarin, Dr. Dima enjoys traveling, hiking, tennis, swimming, and playing musical instruments in her free time.


Arianne Swanson, DDS, MS

Dr. Swanson is a dedicated board certified and motivated pediatric dentist, passionate about providing exceptional oral health care. She completed her advanced studies in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Michigan, earning her M.S. degree in 2022. Prior to this, she obtained her D.D.S. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry in 2015 and a B.S. in Brain, Behavior, and Cognitive Sciences from the University of Michigan in 2010.

Her professional experience includes a pediatric dental residency at the University of Michigan/Mott Children’s Health Center, where she provided comprehensive dental care to children, including those with special health needs. She employed behavior management techniques and sedation methods to ensure the best outcomes.

Dr. Swanson also served as Lead Facilitator for the 180 Program Youth Training and Development, mentoring at-risk youth and teaching life skills. Her clinical practice includes providing dental care in private practices like Kids Smiles Pediatric Dentistry and mobile clinics such as Dentist R Us Mobile Clinic.

Throughout her career, Dr. Swanson has performed thousands of dental procedures, including restorations, extractions, and comprehensive treatment planning. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, and engaging in activities with her family.


June Chu-Chun Hsiao, DDS

Dr. June Chu-Chun Hsiao was born and grew up in Taiwan. She received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery in Taiwan in 2003 and has also been a Diplomate of the Taiwanese Board of Pediatric Dentistry since 2008. She moved to Ann Arbor in 2007 and finished her pediatric dentistry specialty training at the University of Michigan in 2017. Upon graduation, she joined the University of Michigan School of Dentistry as a clinical lecturer in the Department of Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Hsiao is a board-certified pediatric dentist and teaches in both the predoctoral and graduate pediatric dental clinics. She has experience in behavior management for pediatric patients and also providing care for children with special healthcare needs. Apart from clinical care, her research interest has been investigating new materials for pulp therapy. Dr. Hsiao volunteers for dental missions overseas and is fluent in Mandarin.

She currently lives in Ann Arbor with her daughter and husband. She likes to spend time with the family, travel, and play piano.


Abbie Walker, DDS, MS

Dr. Walker is originally from West Michigan and received her dental degree from the University of Michigan. After dental school, she completed a general practice residency program at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. She returned to the University of Michigan to complete her residency in pediatric dentistry.

Dr. Walker continues to be active in the pediatric dentistry clinic at U of M, where she regularly teaches dental students and residents. She is a member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and Michigan Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

She lives in Ann Arbor with her husband and their three young children. Outside the office she enjoys camping, hiking, and spending time with her family.


Halima Abukabbos, BDS MPH CPH FRCD

Dr. Halima is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and currently serves as the director of the Advanced Education and Residency Program in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Pittsburgh. She earned her dental degree, doctorate, and certificate in pediatric dentistry in Saudi Arabia before furthering her expertise with an advanced education residency and postdoctoral fellowship in pediatric dentistry. Additionally, she obtained a master's degree in public health, specializing in public health management, research, and policy, from the University of Florida in Gainesville.

An active member of the American College of Diplomates of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Halima has contributed significantly to her field. She previously held clinical assistant professor positions at the University of Florida College of Dentistry in Gainesville and the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry in Detroit, Michigan. With over 20 years of experience as a pediatric dentist and director, she has made notable contributions through research publications, lectures, and workshops at international conferences.

Beyond her teaching and administrative roles, Dr. Halima provides pediatric dental care at University Dental Health Services (UDHS) and actively participates in various academic committees, including the Pre-Doctoral Admission, Workload, and Pediatric Dentistry Faculty Search Committees at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine.

Dr. Abukabbos has been recognized for her academic excellence, receiving the Alpha Epsilon Lambda honor certificate for ranking in the top 1% of postgraduate students at the University of Florida. She has also received multiple international honors for her work as a keynote speaker and examiner. Her research interests focus on public health and special health care dentistry, reinforcing her commitment to advancing pediatric dental care.


Maria Al Ismail, DDS, MS, DScD

Dr. Maria Al Ismail is a board-certified pediatric dentist who is passionate about creating positive dental experiences for children from toddlers to teens. With advanced training from Tufts University and Boston University, where she also completed her pediatric dental residency, Dr. Al Ismail provides expert care in a warm, welcoming environment. She has been a proud Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry since 2017.

Dr. Al Ismail believes every child deserves a healthy smile and a dental home where they feel safe, supported, and understood. Her gentle approach and ability to connect with young patients help build trust and ease dental anxiety—making visits fun and stress-free for the whole family.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Al Ismail is passionate about teaching the next generation of dentists. She has served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Boston University and currently holds an Adjunct Assistant Professor position at the University of Michigan.

Outside the office, Dr. Al Ismail enjoys life in Canton, MI, with her husband and their son. As both a dentist and a mom, she understands the importance of compassionate, family-centered care—and is honored to be a trusted partner in your child’s health journey.


Carla Jones, DDS, MS

Dr. Carla Jones

Dr. Carla Jones is an accomplished dental professional, serving in leadership roles at the Student National Dental Association. She holds a D.D.S. from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry and pursued a Pediatric M.S. at the University of Michigan, building upon her B.S. in Biology from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University. She has received prestigious scholarships, including the Rackham Merit Award.

Active in organizations like the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the National Dental Association, Dr. Jones has organized community service projects and provided dental care to underserved communities both locally and internationally. She has presented at conferences and contributed to publications in the NDA Flossline Journal, with international service experience in Kenya and Jamaica.
